1 Peter 2:21
"...That ye should follow His steps"

I had some left over tiles that have been sitting in the garden for months, so we decided to put them to creative use!

The best part of this activity was brushing the paint brush on little legend No. 1, I didnt realise how ticklish he is!!
I tried loads of different paint and practiced with each one on paper first, but none of them seemed very vibrant.  Can anyone recommend a good paint for this activity? (I tried wall paint, poster paint and toll painting acrylics). thank you.

I Can See A Rainbow!

Genesis 9:13
“I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for
a token of a covenant between me and the Earth.”
Home Made Rainbow Crayons!

These crayons are fun to make and use up all those odd broken bits of crayons that lie in the bottom of the crayon tin.  Thanks to Gemma for showing me how it’s done!  xxx
choose all the broken pieces of crayons.
Put the crayons into disposable oven proof containers.

Put them on a low heat into the oven (between 50-100 degrees)

Score them whilst they are cooling to make it easier to break.  Hey presto! Recycled crayons!

My husband bought a boat earlier this year (a wayfarer).  We made a collage of it with the children, (they are very proud of it).  This is how it's progressing:

hubby drew the boat and then the kiddies got to work!

unfortunately we had to break for bedtime :)

and its almost finished!  just a little bit of family fun :)

making more progress by pinning on a background.

Cake Auction

The youth at our church held a cake auction last night.  It was brilliant!  They raise about £400.  My favorite part of the evening was when our little legend No. 1 shouted a bid for £100 (it was supposed to be £3)!!

I baked four delicious banana cakes with a recipe I found online :

But I used this frosting instead:

yummy yummy, they all sold for between £6 - £7.50!!  I was quite pleased with that :)

Best Ever Banana Cake With Cream Cheese Frosting. Photo by KC_Cooker

my giant tea cake was a disaster though!  I tried it twice but it didnt work either time.  The trouble I was having was the cling film got stuck in the chocolate once it was set! (I didnt want anyone to gag on a piece of cling film)! I got this recipe from:

So if anyone has any success with this please give me some tips!!

All in all it was great fun and a genius way of raising money! well done Dereham youth :)

The Book Of Mormon

In my quiet time in the scriptures this morning I read this in 2 Nephi 10.  I love my Saviour Jesus Christ.  I pray that I can be reconciled to His will.

23Therefore, acheer up your hearts, and remember that ye are bfree to cact for yourselves—to dchoose the way of everlasting death or the way of eternal life.
24Wherefore, my beloved brethren, areconcile yourselves to the bwill of God, and not to the will of the devil and the flesh; and remember, after ye are reconciled unto God, that it is only in and through the cgrace of God that ye are dsaved.
25Wherefore, may God araise you from death by the power of the resurrection, and also from everlasting death by the power of the batonement, that ye may be received into the ceternal kingdom of God, that ye may praise him through grace divine. Amen.

Charity Never Faileth!

Luke 11:41
"But rather give alms of such as ye have;  and, behold, all things are clean unto you."

Luke 7:47
"wherefore i say unto thee, her sins, which are many, are forgiven;  for she Loved much:
but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little."

We have two scriptures this morning because I am extra excited about this topic.!  in my last blog I wrote about rediscovering myself.  I have been thinking alot over the weekend about combining two ambitions:

I have already sort permission from my local church to use the building to start a 'craft for charity' group and open it up to the wider community!!  i'm buzzing i'm just so excited.
I have selected four organisation to support to begin with but i'm hoping our influence will grow beyond that.
the four charities selected are:
  1. Samaritains charitable trust (educating children)
  2. PEF (perpetual eduction fund - run by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints)
  3. Knit a Square (for orphans in sub saharan Africa)
  4. the Local womens refuge
With the Lords help I know I can make a difference in the lives of others.  I am so excited about the prospect of bring people in the community together.  I pray that God will bless this project that it will help many people, both those who serve and those who are served.

New Talents

Philippians 4:13:
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

After 5 years of motherhood I have 3 delightful little whirlwinds of energy.  They fill my life with shining moments and mountainous challenges!!  I am so grateful and privileged to be their mummy.

When I had my little ones I gave up almost everything else in my life.  I did this with the good intention of being a devoted mother.  My motives were pure but now I think its time to rediscover myself and I believe in doing so I will enrich my family.

what passion might I pass on to my children?

I love read, i learnt this love from my mums example.  My husband loves to sail, he learnt this from his father.

I do not know where my talents lie anymore so I have jumped straight into trying my hand at a few things. :
  • Violin (my wonderful husband bought me one for Christmas)!
  • Water colours
  • swimming (I'm not great at this but it makes me feel good)
  • slate painting
  • blogging!!!
There are other things I am still just thinking about:
  • dancing (I used to do the Hawaiian hula, I'd like to do rock and roll)
  • Learn British sign language
  • running a weekly children's craft afternoon
I do not want to overload myself but I would like to be more fulfilled as an individual and mummy.  I know that if I am prayerful the Lord will direct my way and help me according to his will.  I have faith that the Lord will help me increase my talents and use them to bless the lives of others.

An exciting Gift

Everyday matters!
Everyday is a Gift!

A Gift from the Giver!

Blogging is a new adventure for me.  I am determined to use it as a means of holding myself to account.  To learn to live each day the way the lord would have me do.

I am looking forward to making a record of my faith, my daily rhythm, my parenting, my serving, my cooking, my crafting and my dreaming ;)

James 4:14
"...for what is your life?  It is even a vapour,
that apeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away"

The lord knows the number of our days, let us make each one count!

Chrissy E :)
